For 70 years since the reign of Elizabeth II: 4 days off with mega celebrations in the UK

A military parade in London, carnivals in various British cities and a concert of world stars at Buckingham Palace are some of the events that will mark the platinum anniversary of British Queen Elizabeth II in June next year, the BBC reported, citing a statement from Buckingham palace.

The celebrations will take place from June 2 to 5, with four days off in Britain to mark the 70th anniversary of the monarch’s rule.

On February 6 next year, Queen Elizabeth II will become the first monarch in British history to mark the 70th anniversary of the throne. As with the golden and diamond jubilee, the month of June was chosen for the national celebrations because of the good weather.

On the first day of the celebrations, Thursday, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, a military parade will take place in London, with the participation of 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians. On the same day, jubilee torches will be lit throughout the United Kingdom and the Overseas Territories, and for the first time in the capitals of the Commonwealth of Nations.

A solemn thanksgiving service will be held the next day at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. On Saturday, the Queen and members of the royal family will attend a horse race. In the evening at Buckingham Palace, world stars will congratulate the monarch with a concert for her anniversary on the throne.

There will be nationwide celebrations and street parades across the country on Sunday, and in London more than 5,000 people will take part in an arts festival in the area around Buckingham Palace with street art exhibitions, theater, music and circus performances.

The queen and high-ranking members of the royal family are expected to visit various places in the country throughout the year to take part in platinum anniversary events.
