For 2022, Apple sets identical iPhone production targets as last year

Despite the shortage of components, despite the factory confinements that plague the supply chain in China, Apple would remain confident regarding the production (and therefore sales) ofiPhone for this year 2022. The firm of Cupertino would therefore be counting on a production target of 220 million units, i.e. a production volume almost identical to that of 2021.

Analysts even estimate that with a little extra effort from suppliers, the 240 million units produced remain an achievable goal. Apple for its part would still have preferred to play it safe by asking the suppliers of its supply chain to target 220 million units this year.

In the current context, this stagnation in production can hardly be seen as bad news. Many of Apple’s competitors are indeed struggling to produce at the level of (strong) demand, in particular Xiaomi, so that the iPhone has again gained Pdm points in Q1.
