Football, World Cup qualifiers | England played to great victory

Gareth Southgate’s team had few problems in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra.

ANDORRA – ENGLAND 0-5:

As expected, the English got an easy job of taking three new points in the World Cup qualifiers when Andorra was in the opposite half of the field on Saturday night.

Ben Chilwell, Bukayo Saka, Tammy Abraham, James Ward-Prowse and Jack Grealish scored the goals that ensured a comfortable England victory.

Gareth Southgate’s team is thus on a steady course towards the World Cup in Qatar 2022, with four points down to Albania in second place and three games left of the qualification.

– He makes it look easy

It was Chilwell who sent England in the lead just after the quarter was played. Phil Foden found Jadon Sancho on the run behind the defense, who turned up and played on to Chilwell. On the almost open goal from seven meters, the Chelsea defender got an easy job of putting in 1-0.

Five minutes before the break, Saka doubled for the guests. Once again, Foden was central when he found the winger with a silky soft pass over the Andorra defense. From an angle, the 20-year-old knocked the ball into the net.

– I love American football and Foden has looked like a top quarterback. He’s been like Tom Brady. He just picks out the teammates. He runs and has precise passes to the sides. He makes it look easy, said Roy Keane on ITV during the break.

Steered in to big win

England continued the pressure on the Andorra goal after the break and 13 minutes into the inning, Abraham, who had a rare chance at the top from the start, increased the lead. Sancho was the scorer.

– This evening is about to give Sancho a confidence boost, which gets its second assist in the match. Also a good moment for Abraham who marks the return of the national team with a goal, commented Peter Smith for Sky Sports.

Then it was Ward-Prowse’s turn to draw on the scoresheet. The midfielder’s attempt from the penalty spot was first stopped by Andorra goalkeeper Josep Gómes, but on the return he got the easy job of increasing the lead.

Five minutes before the end, Grealish set the final score at 5-0.

The next match for England is Tuesday. Then Hungary comes to visit.
