The players then set an example: Hoffenheim and Bayern players went on strike and only played the ball back and forth for the remaining minutes.

Of course, the action of Bayern fans is stupid. Whoever insults the mother of a 79-year-old as a whore, just because he has been passionate about his club for decades and buttered millions, has no level.
–
It is worthy of honor that the Bayern players go on strike and show solidarity with the opposing patron. But: Would they have done so if the game hadn’t been decided for a long time?
–
And, the much more important question, would they do the same if racist, homophobic or sexist insults came from the ranks? Was the game abandoned when Hertha’s Jordan Torunarigha was recently insulted by Schalke fans for the color of his skin? Gabs consequences when referee Bibiana Steinhaus was insulted by the fans as a hooker? No.
–
That football has a massive problem is nothing new. Reports of racist incidents come almost every week. Monkey sounds from the ranks.
–
Such behavior rarely has consequences. Uefa has the “three-step procedure”, which says that the referee should interrupt the game and make an announcement in case of racist calls. If the racist calls repeat, he should take the teams off the field and issue a second announcement. After the third time, he should cancel the game.
–
The question is: why not the first time? And why not the same reaction as to the hatred of Hopp?
