It wasn’t the first time that the Japanese made this gesture of respect and goodwill. They cleaned the stadium even after the opening match of the whole league, which their team didn’t even attend. One of the Bahraini influencers, Omar Al-Farooq, asked one of the volunteers why he was doing this. “We are Japanese and we don’t leave litter and we respect this place,” the fan replied.

Fans of the Rising Sun team have already behaved in the same way at the championship in Russia in 2018. At the time, photos of disappointed and crying fans dragging garbage bags around the stadium after a 2:3 defeat against Il Belgium in the round of 16 went around the world.

After the match with Germany, there were also players who left behind an exemplary tidy dressing room. Additionally, they left small gifts for their guests in the form of traditional origami, folding paper cranes. There were also thank you notes in Japanese and Arabic.

“After the historic victory over Germany, the Japanese fans cleaned up the mess of the stadium themselves, while the ‘Blue Samurai’ left the cabin in this condition. Immaculate. Domo Arigato,” he thanked FIFA on social media in Japanese, adding a photo of a perfectly tidy dressing room.
