Manuel Neuer, emblematic goalkeeper and captain of Bayern Munich, has extended his contract for one year, until 2024, the Bavarian club announced on Monday. Neuer’s current contract, 36, ended in 2023. The German champion and the German national team’s goalkeeper have agreed to extend it until 2024.

“Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world,” says Bavarian club chairman Oliver Kahn. Neuer, capped 109 times with Germany, was transferred from Schalke 04 to Munich in 2011. The goalkeeper, who played 472 appearances for the Bavarian club, has since won ten league titles, five German cups and six supercups with FC Bayern.
