For a long time it looked like it was going to be a tough night for French football giant PSG. The winning score didn’t come until six minutes into overtime. Then Kylian Mbappé kicked a penalty which ensured he and his teammates took home all three points.
Before that, however, it was Neymar and compatriot Marquinhos who stole the biggest titles.
Marquinhos, who is the PSG captain, took just a quarter of an hour to put the hosts ahead. The goal pass came from Neymar.
Six minutes after the break, Marquinhos was central again, but this time in front of his own goal. The centre-back put the ball into the net past own goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and ensured there was suddenly an equalizer in the accounts.
Neymar then took on the definitive lead role. After initially receiving a yellow card after 61 minutes of play, the Brazilian only needed three more minutes to be sent to the shower. The second yellow card was given to the PSG star for attempting to film himself for a penalty.
A clearly angry and frustrated Neymar argued violently with referee Clément Turpin after the sending off was a fact.
The home team still had to finish the game with ten men.
PSG top Ligue 1 and are eight points adrift of second-placed Lens following a 2-1 win. Strasbourg is penultimate.
