Sadio Mané, the Lions star, inaugurated a pitch on Wednesday in Bambali, his village in Senegal. Located about fifteen kilometers southeast of Sédhiou, on the banks of the Casamance river, the village is home to only 2,000 souls. But that’s where he grew up. Where he made his first steps as a footballer. The 31-year-old winger, who financed the land himself, was delighted with the outcome of this project which was close to his heart. “ I am really very happy to be with you today and to welcome you to my home, to my native village of Bambali, where it all began. It is with immense pride and a heart full of joy that I stand before you, on this FIFA standard football field which has a lot of meaning for me. This is not just a gift from me to my beloved village. It is above all the symbol of our unity, our strength and our passion for football., enjoyed the current Al-Nassr striker in Saudi Arabia, in a speech full of emotion. The 2022 African champion, currently regrouping with the selection for CAN 2023, also addressed the young people of his native village: “ To you, young people, this land is for you. Cultivate your talents, live your dreams and surpass yourself. Above all, I encourage you to develop your skills, work hard and always believe in your abilities. I make this promise today: I will continue to support and invest in our community so that other young people can follow their dreams like I did. Together, let’s build a future where every child has the chance to become the best version of themselves.”, he urged. Remember that Mané has already financed the construction of a school, a hospital and even a mosque in his village.
