But in a perilous trip to Roudourou, the Grenats did no better than a draw (1-1). The inevitable George Mikautadze had yet scored his 23rd goal of the season, with a flat foot full of composure on a superb collective action (21st). After the break, Guingamp, more enterprising, was finally rewarded for his efforts, with a goal from Gaëtan Courtet on the hour mark.
The Messins pushed well at the end of the game, but that was not enough. From now on, they must notably count on a defeat of Bordeaux against Annecy or Rodez in the last two days of the Championship to still dream of Ligue 1.
Dijon leaves the red zone and condemns Nîmes
In the match of fear, Dijon (18th before the meetings of the day) condemned Nîmes (19th Saturday morning) to relegation to National, winning (1-2). The Crocos had however opened the scoring thanks to a curling strike from Rafiki Saïd (19th, 1-0). But on a strike badly repelled by Axel Maraval, Loum Tchaouna equalized after the break (55th, 1-1). And it was on one of the goals of the evening that Jordan Marié delivered Dijon, with a superb half-volley in the top corner (77th, 1-2). Pascal Dupraz and his family move up to fifteenth place, and advance towards an unexpected hold. Nîmes, he is condemned to find the National, a first since 2008.
Pau and Annecy not yet saved
Facing Bastia (4th), Pau believed, for a few minutes, to make the beautiful operation of the evening, by opening the scoring early, through Mayron George (17th). But that hope was short-lived. Bastia scored two goals in quick succession (20th by Benjamin Santelli; 23rd by Frank Magri). And in the end, the Palois collapsed at home, notably wiping three goals from Magri, in total, in a match to forget (2-6). There are only two days left in Pau to ensure its maintenance.
On the lawn of Niort, red lantern, Annecy could do a good job and secure, or almost, a place in Ligue 2 next season. But as since the start of 2023, the Haut-Savoyards have not won away (2-2), despite a double from Sahi Dion, thirteen goals now on the clock in the Championship.
In total, the seven meetings of a beautiful evening accumulated thirty goals. Saint-Étienne beat Quevilly-Rouen in a prolific match (4-2). For their first at the head of Sochaux, Pierre-Alain Frau and Sylvain Monsoreau lost on the lawn of Paris FC (2-1). Finally, Caen won at the Stade de la Licorne, in Amiens (3-1), after being led.
