The Austrian Bowl XXXVI and the Silver Bowl XXIII will take place on July 31 in the NV Arena. Both the AFL and Division 1 are part of top-class sport and are already preparing for the season under preventive measures. The best four teams in Division 1 are to be promoted to the AFL in 2022. The Austrian Football League starts on March 27th
Dacia Vikings, Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants, Swarco Raiders Tirol, SsangYong Danube Dragons, Rangers Mödling and Prague Black Panthers. These are the six teams that will compete in the AFL for the Austrian Bowl XXXVI this year. With the start on March 27th and 28th, the basic round begins with eight rounds, followed by the playoffs on July 17th and 18th as well as the grand final, the Austrian Bowl XXXVI, on July 31st in the NV Arena in St. Pölten . The AFBÖ is currently assuming that this event can take place under preventive measures but with an audience. At most, different scenarios are already being designed in order to be prepared for all eventualities. The ORF will again broadcast one game per week this year ORF SPORT+.
Division 1 this year with twelve teams
The second highest division this year comprises twelve teams that will compete in two conferences. In Conference A there are the ATRIUM Steelsharks Traun, the Vienna Knights, the Styrian Bears, the Dacia Vikings 2, the Znojmo Knights and the Generali Invaders St. Pölten. In Conference B, the Cineplexx Blue Devils, Wienerwald Amstetten Thunder, Telfs Patriots, Salzburg Bulls, Swarco Raiders Tirol 2 and the Carinthian Lions play. The basic round, which starts on April 10th and 11th, is followed by the playoffs on July 16th and 17th and the Silver Bowl for the championship on July 31st.
Increase in the Austrian Football League in 2022
For the 2022 season, the AFBÖ has planned the next, important step for the Austrian Football League and Division 1. Austria’s top division will consist of ten teams from 2020. The best four teams from this season will make it into the AFL.
