XALIMANEWS-This Saturday, on the occasion of the 4th day of the Premier League, the Lions of Teranga experienced mixed fortunes with their English clubs, without shaking the nets.
Chelsea, who were coming off a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace last weekend, with a goal from Nicolas Jackson, travelled to Bournemouth. At the end of regulation time, the Stamford Bridge Blues narrowly won (1-0) at the end of the match. A match marked by numerous yellow cards: 7 for the home team and 9 for the visitors, including Jackson. The latter was replaced by Nkunku, who scored the liberating goal for Chelsea. Thanks to this victory, the Blues are provisionally in 7th place with 7 points, after two wins, a draw and a defeat.
Earlier in the day, Crystal Palace, with Ismaïla Sarr, hosted Leicester. The Foxes had opened the scoring thanks to Vardy (21st, 0-1) before Mateta equalized at the start of the second half (47th, 1-1). Leicester regained the advantage through Ndidi (46th, 1-2), but at the very end of the match, Crystal Palace won a penalty, converted by Mateta, who thus scored a double (90+2nd, 2-2). Ismaïla Sarr, who came on in the 81st minute, contributed to this collective effort.
For their part, Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye, who started for Everton, suffered a new defeat (3-2) against a stunning Aston Villa. While Everton led 2-0 in less than 30 minutes, thanks to McNeil (16th) and Calvert-Lewin (27th), the Toffees were joined by a double from Watkins (36th, 58th) and a goal from Durán. Ndiaye, replaced at the end of the match (81st), received a yellow card, while Gueye was replaced by O’Brien in the 64th minute. With 4 defeats in as many days, Everton is now bottom of the Premier League, with 0 points (-9 goal difference).
This Saturday was therefore a day of contrasts for our Senegalese internationals playing in the Premier League and who did not hit the net.
