Dapena said after the remarkable scene that she had received death threats. She said that afterwards in the radio program A Diaro. She also said she did not regret her statement. “I am not willing to give someone who used domestic violence a minute of silence. I thought Maradona was a great player, but he made mistakes off the field, ”she said.
Maradona was charged with domestic violence in 2014 after a video was leaked where he had a fight with his then-girlfriend Rocio Oliva twice in the face, while she clearly shouted ‘stop’. He denied the charges. “I swear to God that I have never hit a woman,” he said afterwards. No complaint was filed, but the two broke up for good two years ago.
Maradona died on Wednesday, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Death threats
Dapena’s action did not go unnoticed and apparently stirred something up. The girl even received death threats, as did some of her teammates.
Dapena herself has since made her social media profiles private. “It has been terrible so far,” she said in an interview with AS. “And it’s not just me who has been harassed. There were also death threats. They would find my address and break my legs. ”
However, the girl does not want to file a complaint. “I’m going to ignore this,” she says. “Maybe I’ll have their social media accounts deleted, but will it do a lot?”
