In the Oberliga Mitte there was nothing to get for the Hanau Hornets or the Rhein main Rockets from Offenbach on Sunday. Both teams lost to their respective opponents.
For the Hornets it was the second defeat this season against a strong team from Kassel, which after this game are still unbeaten and are leaders of the group east.
The Hornets started rolling too late in this game and were already 0:15 behind at the break. They managed to shorten the game in the second half, but in the end it wasn’t enough to turn the game around. That was also due to the fact that the people from Kassel made the necessary points to keep the Hornets at a safe distance. Final score: 12:22
The Rockets from Offenbach wanted to make amends after the first leg defeat (0:17) against Bad Kreuznach Thunderbirds. But the dominant team from Bad Kreuznach, which had not yet lost a game, showed that they were no match for that day either.
Despite good actions and a strong start, the team from the leather goods city was 3:12 behind at the break. In the second half, especially in the last quarter, the guests picked up the pace again and used their chances to score more points. In the end the Rockets managed to score 9 points, but the guests were clearly ahead with 34 points and remain undefeated at the end of the season while the Rockets can look back on a respectable performance this season with two wins, two defeats and one draw before the final game will take place next Sunday in Neuwied.
