Legendary Brazilian footballer Pelem underwent surgery for colon cancer, Pele said.
The operation on an 80-year-old Brazilian was performed on Saturday in one of São Paulo’s hospitals. Earlier, in a statement on the social network Instagram, Pele denied that he had fainted and was thus taken to hospital, saying that he had undergone routine tests.
The former footballer has suffered from various health problems in recent years, such as the removal of kidney stones during the operation last year. Due to health problems, he was unable to light the Rio de Janeiro Torch in 2016.
Back in 2014, the Brazilian was placed in intensive care after he started having kidney problems.
