Late last week, the NFL announced an expanded partnership with the NCPG to successfully combat gambling addiction. According to the league, the aim is to strengthen nationwide problem gambling prevention services and promote responsible gaming initiatives.
This is necessary because of the ever-developing sports betting market in the USA. By providing financial resources, the NFL is ensuring that the player protection agencies can continue to carry out their tasks successfully.
Anna Isaacson, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, erklärte:
Our partnership with NCPG underscores the critical importance of their work and our ongoing commitment to responsible gambling initiatives.
She said she is proud to combine the association’s platform and resources with NCPG’s expertise. The NFL is committed to raising awareness, educating and preventing gambling addiction.
Support for several initiatives
The NFL funding will go towards three NCPG initiatives, including modernizing and strengthening the National Problem Gambling Helpline telephone service to provide rapid assistance to those affected.
In addition, the Agility Grants program supports communities underserved in problem gambling prevention programs and the expansion of the ResponsiblePlay.org website aims to increase education among football fans about responsible gambling.
Around the strict NFL rules [Seite auf Englisch] In order to enforce the rules on sports betting and to minimize the risk of match manipulation, the association is committed to consistent monitoring of the teams. To this end, the NFL sends a supervisor to each club. In addition, the inspectors will be present in the stadiums on all match days to register possible violations.
The extension of the NFL cooperation to combat gambling addiction is associated with a slight increase in financial contributions. While the support under the first deal, approved in 2021, was still at USD 6.2 million, the association is now paying USD 200,000 more to the NCPG.
With sums of this magnitude, the NFL is the most important partner of the players’ protection organizations. The further development of the USA on the issue of problem gambling will show how well the football players’ money is invested.
