After a protracted process, it was clear on Monday that Jon Dahl Tomasson will be the new national team captain for the Swedish men’s national football team.
During Friday, he held his first press conference and explained why he took on the assignment.
– SvFF has been very clear from the beginning. My task is to create an international identity with offensively oriented football, a challenge I really love, says the 47-year-old.
The Dane explained that he will speak English to avoid language barriers and went on to describe his enthusiasm about the future with the national team:
– I am looking forward to this trip. There will be many ups and downs but we will complete the journey together. This is a new era, he says.
The first challenge will be a training match away to Portugal on March 21.
