Of course the result was a bit too high, of course Real didn’t have Courtois in the tour, of course the “grandpa” had to take care of it in the attack first…

… but the Barca kids win 4-0(!) at the(!!) Bernabeu with six U21 players in the starting line-up (and substitute Gavi, 20).

It’s crazy what output they have
LaMasia and now also have to be thrown into the deep end early due to their financial situation.
The boys are swimming, it’s impressive, although the style is of course breakneck, but it’s great to see. Against Bayern, after they equalized, I could have bet that they would get the ball full, but somehow they manage to get out of there unscathed and convert their repeated high ball wins into goals.
Of course, what the boys all know what to do with the ball is to click their tongues

Cool to look at.

But a ride on the razor’s edge.
I only saw versions of the Classico together, but that was 1-2 goals too high. At least.

You just have to keep your fingers crossed for them to keep their offensive momentum.

I have seen almost all of El Classico. Yes, the result was high, maybe a goal too high, but not much more. The kids had 59% ball possession at the Bernabeu! 15:9 shots on goal. 455:319 passes. Barca were simply better. Sure, if Mbappé has one of his two chances in which he is not offside

stand, put it in, it gets tighter. On the other hand, Lewa had a historic hat trick on his feet – and strangled the thing past the empty goal from five meters.

Incidentally, Mbappé only had 27 ball contacts in the full playing time, won only one of just five duels, was only successful with one of four dribbles, and ran offside eight times (!). Once or twice very close, but otherwise always so clear that you almost have to doubt his qualities… Football International II – Bor. Mönchengladbach – Forum | Page 667 zwinker

In the end, a 3-1 win by Barca _in_ Real would also be a fantastic result.
And actually it’s about the Barca project in and of itself. So that 70-80% of the squad consists of U21/U22 players (including three U18s), plus two or three “oldies”, but actually only two players in the “prime football age”. And another German coaching team with hardly any credit in advance (including from me). Then there was a pretty blatant style of play at times, standing extremely high, an offside trap on the halfway line, etc. There was simply courage on all sides.

And anything other than setbacks would be astonishing. Like in Osasuna, where Flick perhaps rotated a bit too much. And despite 75%(!) possession of the ball, it backfired. This post was last edited by Doctor_Dree on October 27th, 2024 at 9:39 p.m
