Football – Influencer club Delay Sports causes surprise in the Berlin State Cup

In the second round of the Berlin football state cup, the biggest surprise was probably achieved by the district league team Delay Sports. The club around influencer Elias Nerlich, who together with ex-professional Toni Kroos plays for the so-called “Icon League”, won against the regional league team Sportfreunde Kladow, who play two leagues higher, with 3:1 (1:1). The goals for the decisive 2:1 and 3:1 were scored in the 89th and 90th minutes.
The biggest win on this match day, however, was achieved by Berlin league team SFC Stern (6th league), who beat state league team Club Italia (7th league) 12:1 (6:0). With Nicolas Fäßler, Oliver Gantzberg and Tim Schönfuß-Hahm, three players were successful three times. Indicative of the course of the match: the consolation goal for Club Italia came three minutes before the final whistle and was an own goal.
Curious game between Heiligensee and Staaken
There were twelve goals in the duel between the district league A club FC Arminia Heiligensee 77 (9th league) and the top league team SC Staaken (5th league). And that was after extra time. The clear favorite from Staaken could count themselves lucky to have even made it to the extra time. After falling behind 1:3 within the first 26 minutes of the game, the 3:3 equalizer was only achieved in the fifth minute of stoppage time. In extra time, the guests finally made it clear. Between the 92nd and 118th minutes, Staaken scored six more goals.
The match between BSC Marzahn (District League A) and the upper division team and last year’s finalist TuS Makkabi also had a lot of goals, but was much more clear-cut. After a cautious first half (1:0), Makkabi ultimately won clearly with 7:0.
Other top league teams, however, secured their place in the round of 16 of the Berlin Cup with relatively little fuss. Tasmania Berlin won 3-0 (1-0) against SF Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, BFC Preussen won 4-1 (2-0) against SV Deportivo Latino and Tennis Borussia Berlin won 3-1 (1-0) against TSV Mariendorf 1897.
In a match between two regional league teams, goals were rained down. In the end, SC Borsigwalde beat BFC Meteor 06 with a surprisingly clear 6:0 (2:0).
