A German exchange student becomes a celebrated student at an American high school Football-Hero – even though he has never played the sport before!
Please what? That’s exactly what happened to student Laurenz Plattner. Even US news programs report on the German.

The teenager from Munich is currently attending high school in Stratford, Wisconsin. And that’s where this incredible story happens.
It is the final of a major school sports tournament of the WIAA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, Division 6), the Stratford Tigers meet the Darlington Redbirds.
In the highly dramatic game, it was Plattner who, with 23 seconds left, gave his team victory with the first field goal attempt of his high school career when the score was 7:7. But the shot is blocked!
The opponent gains possession of the ball but cannot take advantage of the chance to win. Finally, six (!) seconds before the end of the game, the Tigers get the ball again and are on the attack – but the clock is running out.
Lucky for Stratford: Darlington receives a penalty for holding! The ball goes back to the 15 yard line.
And then the German Plattner can go again: next field goal attempt!
“Of course I wanted another chance to prove that I could do it. After I kicked the first one, I felt a little depressed and sad. If we had lost this game, I would be the idiot. The idiot who can’t shoot a field goal,” Plattner said in an interview after the game.
Mega trick to success!
In order to be as successful as possible under pressure and, above all, to stay cool, Plattner wrote “Just like practice” on his arm.
It is working!
Plattner, who had previously only played football, made the field goal for a 10:7 victory and led his team to the title, their second in a row!
This doesn’t go unnoticed by the big NFL stars either. The German ex-professional Dominik Eberle (27) writes on “X”: “Congratulations Laurenz!!! Keep it up”.
