Freiburg (dpa) – Coach Christian Streich from the Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg is concerned about the climate crisis and the heat and drought that has also persisted in Germany for months. The weather is “bad and worrying,” said the 57-year-old, whose team meets Borussia Dortmund this Friday (8:30 p.m. / DAZN).
“We’ve known it for years. For many years I’ve been very happy when it starts raining. There are reasons for that,” said Streich. “But nothing has changed in a big way. And I have very serious concerns that something will change in our overall attitude. A few small things will be done. And then it will continue like this. The question is how it is then looks with water and vegetation and so on. So I don’t think football is the first relevance. Other things are much, much more important.”
As for the game against Dortmund, he was “glad that we’re playing in the evening so it’s not that hot,” Streich continued.
