Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Striker Kevin Schade will also miss SC Freiburg in the away game at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday (5.30 p.m. / DAZN). The German U21 international injured himself while warming up before the game in Leipzig in early March and has since been out with a torn abdominal muscle. “It’s not as easy to treat as in other places,” said SC coach Christian Streich on Friday about the long break for the 20-year-old. “It’s a shame he’s missing because he was a threat and brought athleticism to the pitch.”

Streich now demands this from the other players. “I really hope that we have enough energy and accuracy in the game on Sunday that we make it really difficult for Frankfurt,” said the Freiburg coach. The 56-year-old does not believe that Eintracht’s focus after Thursday’s 1-1 draw is only on the Europa League second leg at FC Barcelona next week. “That wouldn’t be the case with us either,” said Streich. You just have to look at the table. “If they win against us they’re going to be in contention for the European Cup, otherwise it’s going to be difficult, so there’s a lot at stake.”
