Freiburg (dpa) – Coach Christian Streich from the Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg looks with respect at the possible duel with newcomer Anthony Modeste from Borussia Dortmund. The French have “enormous power, bounce and good timing,” said Streich one day before the game against BVB on Friday evening (8:30 p.m. / DAZN). “When he plays, we know about his qualities,” said the 57-year-old. But even without Modeste, whom the guests signed this week to replace striker Sébastien Haller, who has been out for a long time due to a testicular tumor, their offensive is extremely dangerous. Streich: “If Modeste doesn’t play, Dortmund still has enough quality.”
It’s also good “when such a high-quality player continues to play in the Bundesliga,” said Streich about the 34-year-old Modeste’s move from 1. FC Köln to the German runners-up.
In his starting eleven for the game, Streich did not rule out personnel and tactical changes. “There won’t be many changes, but there may be one or two changes,” said Freiburg’s coach, who is considering using a back three instead of a back four against BVB. “I don’t want to say how we’re going to do it in the end.”
