Freiburg (dpa) – With a point win against FC Augsburg on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky), SC Freiburg would move up into the top 20 of the all-time Bundesliga table. Freiburg are currently level on points with Eintracht Braunschweig and are only in 21st place because of the worse goal difference. “I’m assuming that we can do it this season,” said Freiburg coach Christian Streich with a smile. After all, the sports club, which was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 1993, has 34 match days.
It will be much more difficult for Freiburg to climb up to 19th place in the new season. The Baden rival Karlsruher SC of all places occupies this place in the all-time table with a lead of 50 points. “That would be amazing,” said Streich: “Not because of the catch, but because of the 50 points. I wouldn’t really care about that catch.”
