Football Federation receives 20 applications for closed football hall construction program / Article / LSM.lv

The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has received applications from 20 municipalities and clubs for participation in the closed football hall construction program, which envisages LFF co-financing of up to 500,000 euros within one project, but the construction of the first closed hall is planned for 2021, LFF reports.

After receiving the applications in the coming months, the program evaluation commission approved by the LFF Board will expand discussions with the relevant municipalities and clubs, identifying the possibilities for the implementation of the respective projects in terms of time and funding.

The closed football hall program is one of the priorities in the development directions of Latvian football infrastructure set by the LFF for the period from 2021 to 2024. The current intention is to implement up to seven such projects in four years.

“The number of applications received confirms the conclusion I had reached with my team before becoming the president of LFF – closed football halls are a real necessity for Latvian football. These are not just words and slogans – it is a fact created by climatic conditions and current Latvian football infrastructure. That is why this initiative is one of the cornerstones of working on the development of Latvian football infrastructure in the short and medium term, “LFF President Vadim Lashenko is quoted on the LFF website.

“We are pleased with the great response and interest of municipalities and clubs to get involved in the implementation of the program, enriching the range of football infrastructure available to young people, professionals and amateurs. Behind each of these applications there is real interest and opportunity and to create a time scale of work to be performed, which would bring the greatest possible benefit to the growth of football in Latvia and its regions, “Lashenko added.

As a member of the program evaluation commission, the LFF Board has approved LFF Vice President Sergey Kovalev, LFF Executive Director Arturs Gaidels, LFF Sports Director Jurijs Andrejevs and LFF Infrastructure Development Specialist Sergejs Glaskovs.
