Football: Dortmund receives the next damper

After the knockout in the UEFA Europa League without the injured Marco Reus and Erling Haaland, Dortmund immediately experienced the next frustration. Tororgan Hazard gave Borussia the lead in the 35th minute after a solo. Dortmund became passive, however, the headball goal by Noah Sarenren Bazee (78th), who came on for Michael Gregoritsch, after chaos in the Dortmund penalty area meant the equalizer. Augsburg thus collected a counter in the relegation battle.

Leipzig won thanks to a late goal by Christopher Nkunku (81st). Due to the success, the “Bulls” pushed SC Freiburg, who had the same number of points, from fourth place due to the better goal difference. Konrad Laimer came onto the field at RB immediately in front of the goal. It was the 14th goal of the season in the Bundesliga for Frenchman Nkunku. The preparation for the game did not go as expected for the guests. After an incident involving the team bus, in which it was damaged, the players and coaches had to take taxis the approximately 45-kilometer route from the rented accommodation to Bochum. The team arrived late at the stadium.

Discussions with UEFA on EL round of 16

There are also further discussions about the schedule of the Europa League round of 16 against Spartak Moscow. The club tweeted on Sunday that they were in intensive talks with UEFA. We expect a decision to be made in the near future. According to the current status, Leipzig have home rights on March 10th, the second leg is to be played on March 17th on neutral ground. After the Russian army invaded Ukraine, however, voices calling for a boycott of Russian sport increased.
