Football: Djurgården won the derby against AIK in the Swedish Cup after penalty drama: “A warrior’s effort”

In the two minutes of added time of extra time, Lucas Bergvall had a playhouse on the right wing and the ball was played in to Deniz Hümmet, who missed a great opportunity. It was then Hümmet who became the match winner for Djurgården when he scored his penalty for 4-3 (1-1 after normal time). Taha Ayari then missed for AIK and Djurgården is ready for the cup final.

– It’s heavy, of course. Djurgården was better than us on penalties, that’s what they win on, says AIK’s Anton Salétros, recently selected for the national team.

AIK otherwise had most of the game and the chances in extra time after the late equalizer in regular time. For the penalties, AIK substituted Ismael Diawara and Kristoffer Nordfeldt had to be substituted.

In the final minutes of regular time, AIK’s Rui Modesto had two chances. On the ensuing corner, Sotirios Papagiannopoulos had a header onto the crossbar. AIK didn’t seem to be able to break the deadlock at home.

But in the last extra minute, the 95th, AIK held firm and the ball went to substitute Victor Andersson, who rushed forward and scored 1-1 with his first goal in AIK’s A team uniform. Marcus Danielson lost the duel with the 19-year-old.

Bergvall headed in Djurgården’s lead goal

After a quarter, Djurgården took the lead. Lucas Bergvall reached the highest point in a header duel and scored 1-0. Rasmus Schüller sent in a well-timed cross that Bergvall got a good hit on.

– A nice ball from Schüller and I get into the box well, says Bergvall.

With Djurgården going to the final, played on May 9, against Malmö FF, they have secured a place in the qualifiers for the European Games.
