After more than three months without competition, theAvant Garde Caennaise (N3) has regained his good habits. His trip to Val-de-Reuil (R2) in the sixth round of the French Cup ended in a large victory, in the distant continuity of an almost perfect start to the season. The very large score (1-7) does not however fully reflect the physiognomy of the debates.
The Benjamin Renaux festival
GA Caen took 35 minutes before opening the brand by Benjamin Renaux – for the start of his personal festival – on a corner from Maxime Roynel. Just before half-time, it was Caen’s number 10 who turned into a scorer, this time served by William Coulibaly. But Val-de-Reuil did not disarm and reduced the mark after hitting the post (1-2, 68 ′). It was only in the last 20 minutes that the visitors unfolded, with Léo Hamel (73 ′), Benjamin Renaux twice (75 ′ and 83 ′), Mamadou Kaloga (86 ′) and Dimitri Milon (89 ′).
The boys did the job. We had to impose a rhythm of N3 by sequences because we knew that we could not put it on the full match.
When Val-de-Reuil began to struggle physically, the Caennais rushed into the spaces. In the matter, Benjamin Renaux reigns supreme: three goals and three assists to his credit. “It was a great team opposite but I have individualities that made the difference. I also had a significant bench depth. When they return, the team keeps their level. But the score is flattering because they haven’t been ridiculous at all. “
Châteaubriant (N2) in the next round
So here is the Avant Garde in the seventh lap, ready to challenge the Voltigeurs de Chateaubriant (N2) who fell from Le Mans. “It won’t be the same, but all cup matches have their own flavor,” recalls Julien Le Pen. Until now, the hierarchy has always been respected. There, we will have to create the feat. Whenever I have had an accomplishment, I haven’t. The Caennais will have to win, however, the weekend of February 6 and 7, 2021, if they want to continue playing … and training. The resumption made their mouths water.
It feels good to replay! Of course, we didn’t have a lot of preparation but we had to assume that we were privileged. There are hundreds of thousands of footballers who stay at home. This privilege must erase everything else.
“Happy to be together”, the Caennais have also shown that they were not physically homeless despite the three months of rest. But they will be entitled to a completely different opposition in front of Châteaubriant.
