As the eighth current team announced in an official statement on Friday, hackers had entered the IT system and attacked the internal security systems.
“This criminal activity involved the theft of published company data,” the Serie A club said in a statement published on its official website.
According to a national daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Spórs Around 200 gigabytes (GB) of confidential data is said to have been stolen with the help of ransomware, a type of malicious program.
The Sky pundit and football legend calls out to the fan: “I’m waiting for you in the pitch!”
Accordingly, sponsorship contracts, business plans and confidential information about players, staff and fans would now be in the possession of the yet-to-be-identified criminals. In addition, it is said that a scan of the passport of the head coach Vincenzo Italiano (46) was obtained without permission.
The traditional club also knows that this is a big loss: “Anyone who gets hold of this data is therefore warned not to distribute, give or use this data in any other way, as this is a crime.”
No further details are known yet. At the same time, blackmail could be the motive for the operation – such operations usually threaten to reveal the stolen data until the ransom is paid.

## Italian Football Club FC Bologna Hit by Cyberattack,Sparking Fears of Sensitive Data Leak
**Bologna,Italy:** As the world of sports continues to become increasingly digitized, cybersecurity threats loom larger than ever.
The recent cyberattack on Italian football club FC bologna 1909 serves as a stark reminder of these vulnerabilities. Today, we spoke with cybersecurity expert Dr. Alessandro Bianchi, a leading researcher in data security and privacy at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, to delve deeper into the implications of this attack.
**World Today News:** dr. Bianchi, FC Bologna has confirmed they’ve been targeted by a cyberattack. can you shed light on the potential repercussions of such an incident for a professional football club?
**Dr. Bianchi:** This is deeply concerning. Football clubs accumulate a wealth of sensitive data – player contracts, medical records, scouting reports, fan databases, even financial facts. A successful cyberattack could lead to the disclosure of this confidential data, causing critically important damage to the club’s reputation, finances, and potentially even player safety.

Additionally, some attackers may seek to disrupt the club’s operations, potentially causing chaos or impacting match schedules.
**World today News:** What measures should FC Bologna take instantly to mitigate the impact of this attack?
**Dr. Bianchi:** First, they need to isolate the affected systems and prevent further data leakage. Secondly, engage with specialist cybersecurity firms to investigate the nature of the attack, identify the compromised data, and develop a plan for recovery. Transparency with fans, players, and stakeholders is crucial throughout this process. They should also consider reporting the incident to law enforcement authorities.
**World today News:** looking beyond this specific incident, what lessons can other football clubs learn from the FC Bologna situation?
**Dr.Bianchi:** This attack emphasizes the need for robust cybersecurity protocols within the sports industry. Clubs should prioritize regular vulnerability assessments, robust password management, multi-factor authentication, employee training, and thorough backup and disaster recovery plans.
Cybersecurity is not solely an IT issue; it’s a boardroom issue. Football clubs must recognize the growing threat and invest in proactive measures to protect their valuable data and ensure the safety and well-being of their stakeholders.
