Football Charity Bowl: Leonberg Alligators celebrate for a good cause

The Leonberg footballers are organizing the Charity Bowl on German Unity Day with lots of sport and celebrities from the online community.

What the Pro Bowl is to football fans in North America, the Charity Bowl is to the Leonberg Alligators. The footballers held the charity event for the first time in 2018, and in the second edition “everything became a little bigger and wider,” says Alligators head coach Fabian Hoyer.

It starts on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Lewa Sports Park with the colorful program, sporting eye-catchers and some celebrities from the streaming community. The soccer players, basketball players, flag athletes and football players from SV Leonberg/Eltingen fight against each other in mini-games in the morning, and in the afternoon the football teams from the Blackforest Foxes, Reutlingen Eagles, Balingen Bucks, Franken Knights and the Alligators compete in a football -specific competition – accompanied by captains from the streaming world such as all-round athlete Ada Theilken, sketch duo Tim & Jani or Philipp Mandla (Ex on the beach). “We want to generate a bit of reach on the internet,” says Fabian Hoyer.

Proceeds go to children with cancer

Social institutions and clubs introduce themselves in the tent village; after all, the Charity Bowl is all about benefit. The entrance fee (3 euros) as well as the proceeds from sales and the raffle go to the support group for children with cancer in Stuttgart. After a six-year break, the Alligators are hoping for good weather and a big crowd. “We want to make it an annual event,” says the Alligators coach.
