“It’s an incredibly strange feeling for me at the moment not to be part of FCB anymore after such a long, successful and wonderful time,” said Frei. On the other hand, he is very happy that this solution was found together. “I believe that I still have some good games at the highest level in my legs,” said the FCB record player. He has to accept that he would not have been able to play many more minutes at FCB. “That makes me all the happier that I have found myself at FC Winterthur and can now bring all my experience to my youth club with great motivation,” said Frei about his new commitment. He will be eternally grateful to FCB and especially the fantastic Basel fans for the countless great experiences during his time in Basel.

Great services to FCB

Daniel Stucki said he could not emphasize enough what an incredible career Fabian Frei has had at FC Basel, and his contributions to the club are enormous. It would certainly be a more dignified and beautiful end to his career if he could now once again play a key role at FCW with his class and experience. “We wish him all the best from the bottom of our hearts,” said Stucki.
