The seasons go by, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals keep coming. On Thursday night, the 39-year-old Portuguese opened the scoring in his Al-Nassr team’s 1-1 draw against Al-Raed in the opening match of the Saudi championship.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has already scored in both the semi-finals and the final of the Saudi Super Cup, got his score off the mark in the 34th minute of the match played at the Al-Awwal Stadium. On a cross from his Senegalese colleague Sadio Mané, the former Real Madrid player took to the air to catapult the ball into the back of the opponent’s net with his head.
This success from “CR7”, still as aerial as ever, did not however allow Al-Nassr to win, Mohamed Fouzair managing to equalize from a penalty at the start of the second period (49th).
The Funchal-born centre-forward is currently in the final year of his contract in Saudi Arabia. Last season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 44 goals in 45 outings for the Riyadh-based club.
This ended with a disappointing Euro 2024 in Germany, where the Seleçao were knocked out in the quarter-finals by France. The Portuguese star remained silent for the first time in his career in the final phase of a major tournament.
