Super League
This Sunday, in a statement, the European Association of Clubs, however chaired by Juventus boss Andrea Agnelli, said it was opposed to the European Super League project, the creation of which seems imminent.
The European Association of Clubs (ECA), which includes all the top names in European football, said on Sunday to be “Strongly opposed to a closed Super League model”, after new speculation around a lucrative private competition competing in the UEFA Champions League.
“The ECA, as the representative body of 246 leading clubs across Europe, reaffirms its commitment to work on the development of the UEFA club competition model, together with UEFA, for the cycle starting in 2024 ”, ECA wrote in a statement posted on its Twitter account.
An astonishing position, given that Agnelli (Juve) is the chairman
This strong position taken by the ECA is all the more surprising given that this union, often seen as the voice of the most powerful European clubs, is in principle chaired by the Italian Andrea Agnelli, boss of Juventus Turin, the one of the teams presented as a stakeholder in such a secession project.

“The ECA refers to the position adopted during its executive committee on April 16, namely that it supports the commitment to work with UEFA on a new structure for European football as a whole after 2024”, added the association, inviting UEFA to continue on this path, as planned, during its executive committee scheduled for Monday morning.
