Arrived at OL from LOSC in the summer of 2019, Youssouf Koné was to hold the position of left back. But his performance never lived up to expectations. Loaned several times, Koné will not be retained by OL and the L1 intends to take advantage of it.
If a player were to symbolize the commercial relations between OL and LOSC, which rarely benefit the Lyonnais, it would be him. Youssouf Koné is one of the biggest flops to have left the capital of Flanders for that of Gaul. After a good season on the left side of the Lille defense and a second place in Ligue 1, he landed in the Rhône in 2019 against 9 million euros. Quickly, he found himself in a situation of failure struggling to show his offensive and defensive qualities before giving way to Maxwel Cornet, yet an attacker.
Troyes and another L1 club want Youssouf Koné
Since then, he has wandered from loan to loan all over Europe. He went to Elche in Spain then Hatayspor in Turkey before joining Troyes last season. This last experience was not too bad for the Malian, who played 21 Ligue 1 matches. It could well help him bounce back from OL. Indeed, as revealed by the newspaper The team, the Lyon sports management has indicated to Koné its intention to separate from him as soon as possible. And, it may go quickly since the side is popular in Ligue 1.
According to The Team, the#OL discuss with two clubs including Troyes for Youssouf Koné 🇲🇱!
The latter is obviously not in Bosz’s plans, and the#OL want to get rid of it as soon as possible…#MercatOL

ESTAC in particular is ready to welcome him again this season after the good experience on loan last season. But, the Aubois are not alone on the file since another elite club whose name has not filtered also wants Koné. The two formations want to recover the Malian on loan for the coming season. If a sale would please the Lyonnais much more, it would still be an opportunity to make room in the wage bill by giving up part of Koné’s generous salary to another club. This should end quickly given that Youssouf Koné is not part of Peter Bosz’s plans, which blocks any future horizon for the Malian at OL.
