Foot / Mercato – Rüdiger formalizes his departure from Chelsea and confesses his feelings to Kanté

In a long farewell letter addressed to Blues supporters, Antonio Rüdiger confirms his departure from Chelsea and pays tribute to N’Golo Kanté.

Antonio Rüdiger and Chelsea, it’s over. Arrived in 2017, the 29-year-old defender will not renew his lease with the club from the British capital. The German international bid farewell to Chelsea fans in a letter on Friday.

The defender says:I don’t like goodbyes. But I’ll try to make this one special, from the bottom of my heart. The trophies I’ve won here – they’re beautiful, that’s for sure. But what really made Chelsea special were the friendships. We were more than teammates. So many of these guys – NG, Kova, Ziyech, Lukaku – they’re like my brothers. It’s very rare in football, honestly. And if there’s one moment that sums it all up for me, it would be the scene in the toilets after we won the Champions League final. Obviously, it was a crazy season for me. I hate to say crazy, but what other word could I use?»

«I have to tell a quick story about one of the nicest guys in football. I speak of course of N’Golo Kanté. Everything I said to this guy, he looked at me and nodded, like he thought everything I said was really interesting. Everything with NG is genuine. Even the Mini Cooper – people laugh about it, but there’s a real story behind it. It was a dream for NG to go to the Premier League, coming from where he came from, and the Mini was the first car he bought when he arrived in England. So for him, it’s not just a car. It has a deep meaning. Of course, the boys always joke with him about it, but I’m telling you – this man is so polite he just tells you what you want to hear. When NG laughs, you can’t help but feel pure joy.»
