Haiti made a glorious start to the 2024-2025 Nations League on Friday by winning (4-1) against Puerto Rico in Group C of League B, an important victory which places Haiti first in the group ahead of Saint-Martin but also which confirmed the good momentum of the Grenadiers in this competition in 4 editions.
If it is true that Haiti always goes up and down the ladder by combining performances between League B (2 editions) and League A 2 (editions) without ever managing to play in the playoffs, the results are rather positive in terms of accounting balance sheet because Duckens Nazon’s teammates have recorded more than 52% of victories for these 4 editions.
In 19 matches played in the Nations League, the Grenadiers have recorded only 2 defeats (against Curaçao 0-1 in 2019 and Jamaica 2-3 in 2023) no more, for 10 victories with the last one against Puerto Rico last night at the Estadio Centroamericano de Mayagüez, which gives the famous percentage of 52% success against 7 draws (36%).
In addition, Sébastien Migné’s players scored 53 goals (2.78 per match) for only 18 conceded with Frantzdy Pierrot top scorer, 10 goals. Unprecedented figures even if the final results ended with two relegations to League B.
Haiti will face Saint-Martin this Monday for the 2nd day of the group. Surely another match to consolidate the statistics.
