If it has fallen behind, Renaissance Mons has not lost all hope of having an exciting half-season, a little helped, it is true, by the end of the competition, the return of its injured and the arrival last reinforcements.

We remember that at the time, the interruption of the competition did not necessarily upset the Renaissance Mons, where the inexperience of the workforce and the unavailability of Traoré, Kalenji and Cordaro, in particular, had resulted from a disappointing start to the championship. The resumption date being now known, the opportunity to make a whole new start presents itself to Luigi Nasca’s group. “As a coach, I am delighted that we finally have a deadline to hang on to,” comments the Mons coach. “The time was getting long and it was very difficult to keep everyone on their toes, as a white season seemed more and more inevitable. We can finally project ourselves, with a “carrot” in our sights, and even start a countdown before the recovery, which brings back a lot of enthusiasm ”.
“Soon a brand new program to follow”
Since mid-November, the Montois have been “free” and no longer have to report to their staff. “My last program dates back to November 17,” continues Q1. “Then I quit. Morally, this period must have been awful for them: how to find the motivation, after a day of school or work, to go running alone, in the dark? In normal times, taking your bag and going to football are part of the habits, of a routine, but this was no longer the case. After consultation with the majority of the nucleus, I decided to leave it alone, to wait to see more clearly to revive the organizations, gently. My players will soon receive a brand new program to follow until January 15th, when we can finally meet again. A priori ”.
Faced with the ACFF’s decision, RAEC Mons remains cautious despite everything. “If the coach that I am is happy to take over, the human being, he wonders all the same. When I see that certain schools are closing their doors again, temporarily, I tell myself that we are clearly not at the end of our sentences. And then, I work in a nursing home and I realize that football and sport are very secondary to the sadness of the elderly, lonely, who can no longer see their children, their grandchildren… “
“This bizarre season has perhaps not finished surprising”
With three points out of twelve on the clock, Renaissance Mons clearly jeopardized its chances of joining the fight for the title. Even though… “With a full band and the recent arrivals of Kabeya and Dervite, we have to be ambitious and play it hard. Until the end. Yes, we only have eleven games left, yes we are nine points behind Tamines, who has yet to face a tenor, but this bizarre season has perhaps not finished surprising. By examining the calendar, I understood that we were going to play seven times at Tondreau, including one against the Symphorinois, and four times outside. We might gain an advantage even though we know better than anyone that our opponents are still as motivated as ever to perform in such a stadium… ”
No more wild cards, no more room for error. “Half a season is even more pressure! The formula at least allows for a resumption of competition, but maybe I would have preferred to start from scratch, then. Some teams have two matches, others three or four and it’s a bit distorted as a result. For the time being, we are thinking above all of taking advantage of the coming weeks to get us back on track because the preparation for four weeks will be very short… ”A new start, soon.
