Foot-and-mouth disease was confirmed in Korea for the first time in four years and four months since January 2019.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to cull some 360 ​​cows raised at the two farms in accordance with the Emergency Action Guidelines (SOP).

In addition, in order to prevent transmission between farms, from 0:00 on the same day to 0:00 on the 13th, a temporary suspension order was issued to livestock farms and livestock-related facility workers and vehicles nationwide.

In addition, foot-and-mouth disease vaccination and clinical examinations are conducted at ungulate farms in seven cities and counties adjacent to Cheongju.

Local governments and the Livestock Hygiene Prevention and Control Headquarters also carry out telephone surveillance for artiodactyl farms across the country.

On this day, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held an emergency quarantine meeting attended by related agencies such as the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters, and local governments, presided over by Vice Minister Kim In-joong, to check the outbreak.

No foot-and-mouth disease has been reported in Korea since 2020.
