Hypertension or what is known as high blood pressure can be caused by various things. However, most of them are caused by genetics or heredity.
It’s just that, a lifestyle including foods eaten daily can actually trigger a recurrence of high blood pressure. Internal medicine specialist Tunggul D. Situmorang said that people who realize that they have a risk of developing hypertension must regulate the food they eat.
“If you know that you have risks, hypertension can be prevented and controlled,” said the General Chair of the Indonesian Society of Hypertension (InaSH) as quoted by Antara.
Not only controlling salt consumption, various foods that make the body fat and cause obesity should be avoided. Because, obesity causes hypertension.
People with hypertension are advised to eat low-fat foods to reduce the risk of high blood pressure. Tunggul said that this change in lifestyle to be healthier is the main requirement for maintaining health.
“Only then did I take medicine,” he said.
Hypertension cannot be cured, but can only be controlled. When a person takes medication and their blood pressure drops, it is an effort to control blood pressure, not get better.
So, people are urged to be obedient in taking medicine so that blood pressure is controlled and does not cause other health problems.
The Ministry of Health said 13.3 percent of COVID-19 patients with congenital or comorbid hypertension or high blood pressure had died.
Hypertension is the highest risk factor for COVID-19 patients to die, followed by other comorbid diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease and kidney failure.
Of the 1,641 COVID-19 patients, the most comorbidities were hypertension with a total of 50.8 percent.
Therefore, to avoid the emergence of high blood pressure or hypertension, you must be clever in regulating the healthy foods that enter the body.
