A Russian nutritionist explained that there are some foods that should not be eaten on an empty stomach for breakfast.

Dr. Natalia Kruglova, a Russian nutrition expert, said that it is not recommended to eat citrus fruits, juices and coffee on an empty stomach, as reported by Russia Today.

In an interview with the Russian Prime News Agency, the expert indicated that a person who suffers from health problems in the stomach and intestines should take care of the foods he eats in the morning on an empty stomach to prevent the aggravation of his illness. Among these foods are citrus fruits and their juices, which stimulate the production of hydrochloric acid, and can stimulate heartburn, stomach pain, and belching.

The expert advises not to drink coffee and sweetened carbonated water on an empty stomach either. Fresh pastries, when eaten on an empty stomach, can also cause problems in some people, such as heartburn and flatulence.
