A food vlogger experienced a price shock when eating at a food stall in Thailand. Just ordering fried rice and egg rice costs more than IDR 1 million.
Food price fluctuations are often experienced by tourists who are on holiday somewhere. Tourists who are ordinary people in tourist areas are being exploited by irresponsible restaurant waiters.
As experienced by a food vlogger named Gina Angelia. Through her Instagram video @gina_angelia she tells of the price shock experience she experienced while on holiday in Bangkok, Thailand.
Seen in the video, he is enjoying a tour of the floating market. He was also seen boarding a boat and stopping at a riverside food stall which offered oriental menus.

Then he ordered two menus, seafood fried rice and omelet rice. The menu was simple, but what a surprise he was when he found out the price was more than IDR 1 million.
“Guys, when we ate at the floating market in Bangkok, Thailand, we didn’t know whether we were being scammed or not. Just ordering fried rice and egg rice cost more than IDR 1 million,” he said in a video confirmed by detikFood (21/09/23).
Furthermore, he also said that food prices in Thailand are usually relatively affordable. Moreover, it is offered by a simple food stall and with a simple menu too.
Gina suspected that this had been planned by someone. Because, from the moment he got on the boat, the boat driver immediately directed him to the food stall.

“It’s no wonder, from the start we started to get suspicious because the boat people asked us to stop there,” he said. “Is it because we are foreigners that we immediately get paid so much?” he continued in the video.
The video went viral and was responded to by many netizens. Many netizens shared the same experience when eating at the floating market in Bangkok, Thailand.
“The floating market in Bangkok really likes to gouge prices as they please. And it really seems like there are already people like that who will give them advice,” wrote a netizen.
“I’ve also been hit by price shocks there. That’s fine, if you’re at a tourist spot, choose a restaurant that already has a menu price list,” wrote another netizen.
