Food Safety Department Inspection: 3 Hotels Closed | Kollam | Kerala | Deshabhimani

As a result of the food poisoning outbreak in Kottayam, three hotels were closed during the inspection conducted in the district. Inspections were conducted in hotels and catering units in Punalur, Chatannoor, Kollam and Shastamkota regions. 36 institutions were inspected. The New Plaza Hotel near Kollam KSRTC Stand, Mahavishnu Hotel and Nedumpurat Hotel in Shastamkota Toppilmuk were closed due to major irregularities. The activities of the other two plants, which were operating without a licence, were suspended. Three institutions have been fined and issued warnings. Nine institutions have received notices to remedy the deficiencies. Food Safety Officers Lakshmi V Nair, VS Arun Kumar, AA Anasi, Rekha, S Sangeeta, SR Razima, Sheena I Nair and S Manasa attended.
