Food Poisoning at Kumo Sushi & Steakhouse: 12 Teenagers Fall Ill after Celebrating Birthdays at Restaurants

Jakarta

Gegara celebrates birthdays at restaurants. There were 12 teenagers who experienced food poisoning, and did not stop vomiting after eating there.

Food poisoning cannot be considered a trivial problem, because it is very dangerous for health. One of the causes of food poisoning is that the food served is stale, contaminated with bacteria, and contains toxic substances.

Like the case of a birthday party that ended in food poisoning.

Reporting from DailyMailUK (13/09), the story began when a 13 year old visitor was celebrating his birthday with several of his friends.

They chose the Kumo Sushi & Steakhouse restaurant on Long Island, America. Initially there was nothing wrong, Arial Arias’ birthday daughter and 12 of her other friends ordered lots of different foods. Including menus containing chicken, beef, vegetables.

But it is suspected that the white rice caused them to suffer from food poisoning.

“We didn’t get poisoned from eating sushi. But they all fell ill after eating hibachi. I didn’t expect this food would actually make us poisoned,” said Arial, as the mother of her daughter who was poisoned.

According to Arial, it wasn’t just her daughter and her friends who were vomiting non-stop. But many other customers at the restaurant, who ordered the hibachi menu, also vomited.

After that, they were all rushed to hospital, and there were 28 other visitors who felt unwell after eating there.

The doctors immediately treated this case of food poisoning. Through a series of tests carried out, they found that the most likely cause of food poisoning came from a bacteria called bacillus cereus which is commonly found in raw rice.

This bacteria becomes dangerous when the rice has become rice, but is stored at room temperature which causes toxins or the release of toxins from the bacteria. This causes visitors to get food poisoning.

Through this case, the health inspector in Suffolk County also issued 15 allegations of health violations against the restaurant. Includes eight violations surrounding risk factors for foodborne illness.

“I’m sorry. I invited my daughter to celebrate her birthday at a restaurant, and invited all her friends. I thought this would be a fun day for them, but instead they all had to be hospitalized,” continued Arial.

Now Arial intends to sue the Kumo restaurant and ask for compensation for what happened to her daughter and her daughter’s friends.

“I am very angry with that restaurant. Because I chose that restaurant, and we never thought that the food we ordered would be contaminated,” concluded Arial.

Meanwhile, Kumo restaurant representatives, Tony and Bobby Lam, emphasized that they are committed to improving their service. As well as ensuring that incidents like this will not happen again.
