Food pantry opens at Brooklyn public school

Some families in Brooklyn no longer have to go far to access their next meal.

Heart of America and its corporate sponsors opened a new food pantry at PS 398 Walter Weaver Elementary School.

The national non-profit organization transforms spaces to help children achieve their full potential.

In this case, an old living room becomes a pantry filled with canned vegetables, rice, and other products.

Almost all students at the school qualify for free lunch.

The pantry has provided more than 11,000 pounds of food since it opened in September.
