NEW YORK — A food delivery driver who was robbed at gunpoint believes an order he tried to place last week was staged and says the entire incident was caught on camera.
Exclusive surveillance video allegedly captures two suspects working on the robbery plot at a Bronx building, and now detectives are trying to determine if the same men could be connected to other crimes.
According to video obtained by our sister network NBC New York, a man and his accomplice sneak behind a food deliveryman sitting on the stairs inside a building near Jacobus Place and West 225th Street on Friday night. One of the men puts a gun in the worker’s face while the other allegedly takes the victim’s food and cash: almost $300.
“They call here to place an order for a delivery there. We deliver there and they give me the wrong apartment number and we call them and they rob him,” the victim’s boss said Monday.
The 20-year-old delivery driver said he only remembers the gun pointing at his face and hopes police make a quick arrest.
He said he has to continue working, but fears for his safety.
“We are concerned about your safety. We are concerned that [los sospechosos] keep doing that,” added his boss.
New York City Police hope anyone who recognizes the thieves will contact authorities.
