Recently, AirAsia’s food delivery service has started to expand its business in Indonesia. After initially only operating in the Tangerang area, since the end of last month this service can be enjoyed in DKI Jakarta.
The entry of AirAsia adds to the number of players in the food delivery business.

In its Instagram account on June 30, 2022, AirAsia stated that the service was already present in Jakarta. The company also asks users to try it directly on the AirAsia application.
“Finally it’s here: airasia food to Jakarta! We are ready to take off to satisfy your stomach! Try it now only on the airasia Super App!,” AirAsia wrote as quoted on Saturday (23/7/2022).
Previously in March, AirAsia Food officially debuted in Indonesia and could only be accessed in the Tangerang area. According to CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring, Thursday (21/7/2022), the Food feature is already online in Jakarta and has even adjusted to the location closest to its users.
It’s easy to order, just like using other services that were previously available, click the Food menu on the front page of the application. Next select a restaurant and click the desired food or drink.
AirAsia also has the option of having food delivered directly or users can pick it up themselves at the restaurant.
The bustle of this sector is likely due to performing brilliantly in the midst of a pandemic. In the e-Conomy SEA 2021 report, one of them said that the shift in consumer habits using digital shot from 2020 to the first half of 2021 reaching 21 million consumers.
Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of the digital sector also grew by US$ 6.9 billion in 2021 from US$ 5.1 billion in 2020. This means that it has jumped 36% in just one year.
The GMV of the food delivery service and transportation sector is also predicted to continue to grow in 2025. The sector will grow 25% to reach US$ 16.8 billion.
