NEW YORK — The Food Bank for New York City will bring its mobile program, Pantry Mobileto Ozone Park in Queens this Friday for the purpose of helping food insecure families in the area.
Thanks to an $80,000 donation from Stop & Shop, the Food Bank for NYC will bring its Mobile Pantry program to Ozone Park, Queens (74-02 101st Avenue) from 12 to 2:00 pm on Friday to help area families facing food insecurity. Additionally, the large donation will allow the mobile dispensation to be brought to the Ozone Park community each week between June 24 and July 26.
Thanks to this program, residents will have access to non-perishable products, such as proteins, whole grains and dairy products, as well as culturally relevant Halal food products. There will also be a farmers market-style spread that will include fresh fruits, produce, leafy greens and more.
The community has seen food insecurity grow by 16% since the start of the COVID pandemic, going from over 221,000 residents who were food insecure to about 360,000 today.
