Foo Fighters release a disco album as the Dee Gees | Music

The Foo Fighters take a new musical path: the rock band ventures into disco. The Americans are releasing a disco album in honor of the American Record Store Day as a tribute to the Bee Gees. ‘Hail Satin’ features four covers of Bee Gees songs: ‘Night Fever’, ‘Tragedy’, ‘You Should Be Dancing’ and ‘More Than a Woman’. The B-side features live versions of songs from ‘Medicine at Midnight’, the latest Foo Fighters album.

For the occasion, the members of the band changed their group name to Dee Gees, after frontman Dave Grohl’s initials. He explained that the choice for the Bee Gees came after watching a documentary about the Gibb brothers. “I said, ‘Why don’t we play a Bee Gees song?’ And someone replied, ‘How do you want to do it?’ “Let’s do it like the Bee Gees,” I replied. I’ve never sung like this in my life, but at the same time it was the easiest song I ever sang.”

The release will launch in the United States on July 17.
