According to musicians from Sony Music, Dave Groll’s new book is as much a celebration of music as it is about cherishing the moments in life that have shaped him as the person he is today. From amusing childhood events, touching family moments, leaving home to see the world at the age of 18, to exciting stories about Nirvana, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Joann Jett, Iggy Pop, Paul McCartney, playing drums for Tom Petry “The Storyteller is a fascinating insight into a life lived really loudly,” on the famous Saturday Night Live show, a performance at the White House and even a swing dance with AC / DC. publishers.
“There’s a common thread that spins around everything I do – it’s storytelling. Whether it’s in a song, a documentary or on a page, I’ve always felt the need to share moments from my life. That tendency is a big part of it. In March 2020, realizing that my work with Foo Fighters had come to a standstill, I created an Instagram account (@davestruestories) and decided to focus all my creative energy on writing stories. I quickly found out that the reward after sharing a new story was the same as the feelings I would get from playing music for a large audience, so I kept writing. soul-filling, like any applause in the arena. So I took all the experiences I’ve had in my life – impressive, complex, funny and emotional – and decided it was time to finally put them into words. Now, with the great people from Dey Street books publishing house, I am thrilled and honored to report – “The Storryteller” – a collection of memories from life lived out loud – is here! From my early days growing up in the suburbs of Washington, USA, to leaving home at the age of 18 and all the music that followed, I can finally share these adventures with the world, just as I saw and heard it on the other side of the microphone. Turn up the volume! ”
