The band reports that they take the time to mourn the loss of the 50-year-old drummer.

Taylor Hawkins’ death just before the weekend has shaken the rock industry. The popular drummer was found death in a hotel room in Colombia only hours before they were to go on stage in the city of Bogotá.

Colombian authorities announced shortly after traces of ten types of drugs were found in Hawkins’ body, including opiates.

Now the band announces that their commenced tour has been canceled in its entirety. It basically included concerts in North America, Europe and Australia / New Zealand.

It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirms the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the dizzying loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins, it is said from the band’s Twitter account.

– We are sorry for – and share – the disappointment that we do not get to see each other as planned. Instead, let’s spend time now mourning, healing, being close to our loved ones, and appreciating all the music and memories we made together.

Foo Fighters boss Dave Grohl has not yet commented personally on the death.

He hired Hawkins to his band in 1997, and the two were very good friends.

This is the second time Grohl has been shaken by deaths in close circles and bands. In the early nineties, he was a drummer in Nirvana, whose frontman Kurt Cobain took his life in the spring of 1994.

Grohl surprised many when he made his record debut with Foo Fighters in 1995, an album where he himself sang and played all instruments.

He quickly developed the project into a band of regular members, which has enjoyed significant commercial success over the past 25 years.
