Fondazione Leonardo’s interviews with the protagonists of the RomeCup 2024: “AI will not replace man”

At RomeCup, Leonardo’s CEO Roberto Cingolani, presenting the Outreach project of the Leonardo-Civiltà delle Macchine Foundation, raised an alarm regarding the lack of young graduates in STEM subjects. And the Leonardo Foundation itself, on this topic and on the topic of the importance of robotics and artificial intelligence, heard the opinion of Mirta Michilli (general director of the Digital World Foundation), Giorgio Metta (scientific director of the Italian Institute of Technology – Iit), Alessandra Poggiani (general director of CINECA) and Vincenzo Esposito (CEO of Microsoft Italy). Sharing Cingolani’s analysis, they also reassured the kids themselves about AI: “It will not replace man but will support him, becoming a resource to be exploited while respecting certain limits”.
